State Moves to Revoke Bail of ANC MP Sibusiso Kula over Witness Tampering Allegations

The North West NPA’s Advocate, Dalton Tshinyani, said the State will play a video which allegedly captured him visiting a police officer in the holding cells.

During the session at the High Court in Klerksdorp on Tuesday, it was disclosed that Kula violated his bail condition by contacting witnesses and convincing them to alter their statements submitted to the State. Currently, Kula is released on bail amounting to R50,000. He was apprehended in January 2023 in relation to the death of his wife, Jennifer Kula (31), following the discovery of her body at their residence in Kanana township in November 2022.

The court previously rejected Kula’s attempt to dismiss the case.

Dalton Tshinyani, Advocate for the North West NPA, stated that the State intends to present a video allegedly showing Kula visiting a police officer in the holding cells. He added, “We will also submit statements from witnesses who allege that the accused attempted to influence them against testifying. Additionally, we have a statement from the police officer who was present in the holding cells when he visited our witnesses.”

“The investigating officer will provide further testimony, and we will present the holding cell video to demonstrate that Kula was the individual who visited the witnesses.”

Kula faces charges including murder, obstructing justice, violating the Domestic Violence Act, making false statements and affidavits, and conspiracy to commit murder.
