Sarah Becker Dies: MTV’s ‘The Real World: Miami’ Alum Was 52

Sarah Becker, renowned for her role in MTV’s The Real World Season 5, has passed away at the age of 52. 

Becker was a cast member on the reality series based in Miami. According to TMZ, her family confirmed that she died by suicide earlier this week at her home in Illinois.

Following news of her death, friends of Becker have shared tributes on social media to honor her memory.

“Sarah Becker was made of pure sunshine… Full of energy and positivity, you couldn’t help but feel her warmth standing in her presence. I am grateful for our adventures and laughs. Big hugs to all the Wildstorm fam!” Daniel Norton posted on Facebook.

In response to the post, Norton added, “Sarah was someone who, once you met her, left you with fond memories or a funny story to cherish and share with others. That was her impact.”

According to TMZ, Becker relocated to Illinois “last year to assist her family” and had “faced challenges with her mental health in recent months.” Becker had reportedly been recovering from a skateboarding accident.

After learning of Becker’s passing, another friend of the former reality star posted photos with her on Facebook.

“I just found out that one on the nicest people that have ever been put in my life, especially during my impressionable ages in my life has passed away. Every time I thought of her I would always see her smile, and bubbly personality. You were loved and will be missed,” Joel Benjamin wrote on Facebook.

A friend of Becker shared her final Facebook post, dated June 14, where she asked for recommendations for a dentist.

During her time on The Real World: Miami, Becker famously described herself as “a 19-year-old trapped in a 25-year-old body.” Throughout the season, she introduced a puppy named Leroy into the household. Becker’s fellow cast members included Dan Renzi, Melissa Padrón, Joe Patane, Cynthia Roberts, Flora Alekseyeun, and Mike Lambert.
