Federal Judge Orders Marilyn Mosby to Forfeit Florida Vacation Home: Sentencing Looms

In GREENBELT, Md., a federal judge issued a ruling on Thursday compelling former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby to forfeit her Florida vacation home following convictions for perjury and mortgage fraud by two separate juries.

Prosecutors contended that Mosby unlawfully withdrew $90,000 from her city Deferred Compensation Plan to purchase two Florida vacation homes, alongside fabricating information on a home mortgage application. Judge Lydia Griggsby sided with the prosecution, affirming that Mosby would not have secured a mortgage loan without submitting a false $5000 gift letter from her ex-husband, Nick Mosby.

As part of the ruling, Mosby retains the appreciated value of the original 10 percent down payment she made on the property. While the initial purchase price stood at $428,000, Redfin now values the home at $886,000. Mosby’s legal team is anticipated to request a stay from Griggsby to facilitate an appeal.

Griggsby is currently hearing arguments from both sides before delivering a sentence. Mosby faces a potential maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, with prosecutors advocating for a 20-month term. Conversely, the defense is advocating for probation rather than incarceration.

In recent weeks, Mosby’s legal team has initiated a nationwide media campaign seeking a Presidential pardon, alleging political targeting and wrongful conviction.

Stay tuned for updates on the forthcoming ruling.
