Cameron Diaz is unconcerned about her looks following her departure from Hollywood

As Cameron Diaz said goodbye to Hollywood, she didn’t just exit the industry but also let go of the societal pressures about her looks – a common experience for many women, particularly those in the limelight.

In an interview on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast on the BBC, the former actress revealed her current approach to beauty standards and skincare, saying she prefers a more carefree lifestyle.

Cameron expressed how leaving acting after marrying Benji Madden freed her from the confines of Hollywood allure.

The Charlie’s Angels star acknowledged that she had been a “victim of societal objectifications and exploitations” throughout her life, especially given that she has lived her life so publicly.

Certainly, I’ve been a target of all the societal objectifications and exploitations that women endure,” she confessed, acknowledging her own contribution to these norms.

Now at 51, Cameron revealed that her beauty products are essentially untouched, collecting dust and expiring one after another – a testament to how much she has distanced herself from the stringent beauty regimens typically imposed by Hollywood.

“It’s challenging not to. It’s difficult not to compare yourself to other beauty standards, and I believe that’s one of the most significant aspects. The past eight years, girl — I’ve been untamed. I’m like a wild creature. I’m a force of nature,” Cameron expressed to Michelle, describing her current stance towards beauty routines.

The mother-of-one has also adopted a natural and relaxed approach to skincare, confessing that she doesn’t like to obsess over her appearance on a daily basis.

“I don’t care. Honestly, the last thing on my mind on a daily basis, perhaps not at all during the day, is my appearance. No, no, I literally do nothing. I never wash my face,” she candidly shared with Michelle.

Every now and then, she falls back into old routines, using various creams and treatments. However, this doesn’t occur frequently, with the actress from ‘The Holiday’ disclosing it happens “maybe twice a month if she’s fortunate.” She further added: “I’ll think, ‘Oh, I should apply this. Does it work just once? Is that all I need to do?’ I’m just not in that mindset right now to invest any energy.”

By opting to let go of the pressures of maintaining appearances, Cameron is able to devote her time and energy to more significant aspects of life, such as raising her daughter, Raddix, who was born in January 2020.
