A Thriving Garden in a Sealed Bottle—Flourishing for Over 40 Years Without Water! 🌱✨

When David Latimer planted a seed in a glass bottle on Easter Sunday in 1960, he couldn’t have imagined it would become a lush, thriving garden. Despite last watering it in 1972, this sealed bottle garden has continued to flourish, completely filling with vibrant greenery over the decades. 🌿🌟

After adding compost and a spiderwort seedling to a glass bottle, David Latimer sealed it and placed it in a sunny spot. Since its last watering in 1972, this self-sufficient ecosystem has thrived in its sealed environment. The plants use sunlight for photosynthesis, generating oxygen and moisture that “rains” back down on them. Decaying leaves provide essential carbon dioxide and nutrients.

Latimer, now 80, marvels at how this mini-world continues to flourish and hopes his children will carry on the experiment. 🌱💧✨
