Rihanna may not have announced a release date for her own album yet, but that hasn’t prevented her from inquiring about another artist’s upcoming release.

On Tuesday, July 2, GloRilla posted a screenshot of a direct message from the Fenty Beauty founder, showing not only her admiration for the rapper but also her interest in the timing of their album release.

“You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop? 🤷🏿‍♀️❤️,” the “Umbrella” hitmaker, 36, wrote in a DM, which the “TGIF” artist, 24, shared on Instagram alongside the caption “Ayyeeeee.”

GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, initially gained prominence with her 2022 single “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” alongside Hitkidd, marking her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Memphis rapper has since continued to make waves with tracks like “Tomorrow 2” featuring Cardi B, “On Wat U On” featuring Moneybagg Yo, “Yeah Glo!”, and “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

On April 5, GloRilla released her debut mixtape titled Ehhthang Ehhthang.

“Yo Gotti advised me not to get complacent. Keep pushing forward because if you ease up, everything could unravel… It’s all about consistency and achieving longevity. That’s what defines success,” she explained to the publication.

In contrast, in June, Rihanna shared with Entertainment Tonight her fresh approach to her upcoming album, R9.

“I feel like music, for me, is a new adventure,” the “California King Bed” artist reflected. “I’m rediscovering things. I’ve been working on this album for so long that I set it aside, but now I’m ready to return to the studio. Let me just start — give me a moment!”

“Yeah, I’m starting over. However, I don’t want to neglect the songs I already have, so I plan to revisit them with a fresh perspective and see what resonates and what I still adore,” she added.

Just two months earlier, Rihanna had also discussed the progress of her forthcoming album in a conversation with Extra.
