The names Caitlyn Jenner’s children used for her following her transition have been causing quite a stir among fans.

Caitlyn Jenner first gained fame as an athlete in the 1970s. She made a name for herself at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where she won a gold medal and set a new world record. After her athletic career, she transitioned into the entertainment industry.

Recently, Caitlyn has been in the spotlight for coming out as transgender and undergoing hormone therapy for her gender transition. Her courageous decision has made her a role model for many.

Despite her transition, the former top-tier athlete believes that her past self, “Bruce,” still resides within her. Now, you’re up to speed on all things Caitlyn Jenner!

Born as William Bruce Jenner on October 28, 1949, in Mount Kisco, New York, she later became known as Caitlyn Jenner. As a child, she struggled with dyslexia, but found solace in sports. Caitlyn excelled in various activities, leading to a successful sports career throughout her youth.

In her early life, Caitlyn Jenner excelled in high school sports such as football, basketball, and water skiing. However, her true passion was track and field.

Caitlyn was immediately awarded a football scholarship from Graceland College in Iowa. But after a knee injury prevented her from playing, she switched to track and field.

As previously mentioned, Caitlyn was an incredibly gifted athlete who won awards as the most valuable player on her high school football, basketball, and track teams. However, she was already grappling with her gender identity at this stage of her life.

Jenner once reflected, “I look at guys and I think… ‘He’s comfortable in his own skin.’ And I thought, ‘Wouldn’t that be a nice way to go through life?’ I look at women all the time thinking, ‘Oh my God, how lucky are they that they can wake up in the morning and be themselves. But me, I’m stuck here in the middle.’”

L.D. Weldon, Caitlyn Jenner’s college track coach, encouraged her to start training for the Olympic decathlon, a combined athletics event that includes ten track and field events. The coach, who was an expert in this challenging track event, believed Jenner was the perfect candidate.

Caitlyn unexpectedly won the Kansas Relays in 1971. The following year, she qualified for the US Olympic team and finished tenth in the Munich Olympic Decathlon.

Olympic Gold Medalist While this was a significant achievement, Jenner knew she could do even better. She embarked on an intensive training program, practicing for eight hours a day for the next four years.

Jenner was ready for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.

At the age of 26, she won the decathlon at the Olympics, setting a new world record with 8,618 points on July 30, 1976.

Given the tumultuous times the US was experiencing due to the aftermath of the Vietnam War, Watergate, and other major issues, Jenner’s Olympic gold medal was a significant achievement. They were seen as a tremendous American superhero and became a symbol, especially since they had long, flowing hair that resembled a lion at the time.

She was praised as the world’s most exceptional athlete. But when they got the gold medal, they felt like women even if they later became symbols of masculinity.

Caitlyn told ABC, “I see a confused person at that time, running away from my life … with big-time fear. [I was] scared to death. I didn’t realize what my future held at that time.”

“That is me. That is her,” she added, referring to her gender identity. “[you can be a woman] and still kick butt.”

“I was totally empty inside”
Caitlyn Jenner’s spectacular Olympic triumph made her more than just an American hero. It also meant that after she returned to the States, everyone wanted to be associated with her, and celebrity was unavoidable.

Jenner became somewhat of a national brand after landing numerous endorsement deals. She also had appearances in commercials, TV series, and even motion pictures.

But beneath the persona that at the time was Bruce Jenner, she was someone else.

The Kansas City Kings selected Jenner in the seventh round of the 1977 National Basketball Association draft. None of that mattered, though, as she stood on stage soaking in the attention, chants, and cheers.

“I walk off the stage, and I’d feel like a liar. And I would say, ‘F*ck, I can’t tell my story,” she recalled. “There’s so much more to me than those 48 hours in the stadium, and I can’t talk about it.’ It was frustrating. You get mad at yourself…. Little did they know I was totally empty inside. Totally empty inside.”

In 1971, seven years prior to her Olympic triumph, Caitlyn Jenner wed her college girlfriend Chrystie Scott. While Jenner sold insurance at night, she worked as a flight attendant and was fully committed to supporting her then-husband in realising their Olympic ambition.

In 1978, Caitlyn Jenner welcomed her first child, Burt, and two years later, her second child, Cassandra. However, the relationship with Chrystie had already ended by the time Cassandra was expected.

Caitlyn revealed to ABC that Chrystie was likely the first person to be aware of her struggles with gender identity.

Caitlyn shared, “I didn’t delve too deeply into it back then. I said, ‘These are my issues. This is what I’m dealing with.’ They thought I did a bit of cross-dressing, a bit of this and that, you know, ‘It’s going to be okay, we’ll sort all this out.’”

Despite her internal struggle with gender identity, Caitlyn kept it hidden. In 1981, she married Linda Thompson and they had two sons, Brody and Brandon Jenner. The couple parted ways after five years.

Later, Caitlyn admitted that her gender identity issues were partly the reason for their separation. However, Thompson made it clear that she would always support Caitlyn, even after their marriage ended.

“My hope is that his transition will inspire others who struggle with their identities, and my prayer is that humanity has evolved and been educated enough to exercise kindness toward those we may perceive as ‘different,” she said.

Caitlyn Jenner, who was struggling with depression, made the decision to seek professional assistance after her divorce from Linda. In the late eighties, she also started taking oestrogen and had electrolysis and a nose job to get rid of facial hair.

She had started developing breasts with the original plan to fully transition before reaching the age of forty. However, Jenner decided to pause the process at 39.

Caitlyn was grappling with her identity. At the same time, there was a lack of understanding and respect for transgender individuals and those undergoing a transition, which exacerbated her situation as a public figure.

Yet, if there’s one thing about Caitlyn Jenner, it’s her courage. It was the first time a family member learned about her gender struggle when she chose to confide in her older sister Pam.

Meanwhile, some of her family members struggled to understand her.

In 1991, she married Kris Jenner. They stayed married until 2015. With Kris, Caitlyn had her two most famous children, Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Kris and Caitlyn’s marriage lasted for over twenty years. Their family rose to prominence when they joined the reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2007, which also featured Caitlyn. However, she continued to feel that living as a man was a falsehood.

Kris and Caitlyn separated in 2013. Four months later, she resumed her transition without informing her children.

Still feels like Bruce lives inside her Since her family was unaware of her plans, Jenner was worried about their reaction to the news.

“That night I thought, ‘oh, it’s, like, over. Heart’s pounding… and I thought wouldn’t the easiest thing be right now,” Caitlyn Jenner remembered.

The divorce between Kris and Caitlyn was finalized in 2014. She revealed her transition to all of her children. They all offered her a great deal of support.

Caitlyn Jenner has embraced her new life as it is now, which is undoubtedly very different from her previous one. Sometimes, Kendall and Kylie still refer to her as “dad.” However, she stated that despite the uncertainty, she didn’t find it problematic.

“I know we had a talk a few years ago and you were ok with us still calling you dad. How do you feel about that now,” Caitlyn’s daughter Kylie asked her in a video posted on her YouTube channel, questioning her feelings about it at the time.

Caitlyn Jenner expressed, “I believe it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The community can sometimes be quite challenging, particularly when it comes to pronouns, and everyone has an opinion.”

“But from the start, I felt that I had to do it my way, in a way that works for me, and everyone else can do it their way, in a way that works for them. Some people might say, ‘You’re the mother,’ but I’m not. I’m the dad, I’ve been the dad all along, and I will be their father until the day they die or I die.”

Despite transitioning over five years ago, Caitlyn Jenner still feels that “Bruce” is a part of her. She continues to enjoy activities that Bruce loved, such as driving fast cars and flying planes, much like she did before her transition.

Caitlyn Jenner’s net worth is estimated to be around $100 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Caitlyn Jenner is widely regarded as a brave and inspiring figure.
